About Us
Who We Are
SK Online Academy (Sikhululekile Online Academy) is a free digital skills training platform founded under Sikhululekile Reading Development and Life Skills (SRDL), a non-profit organisation rooted in the townships of Nyanga, Philippi, and surrounding communities in Cape Town, South Africa.
Our Story
SK Online Academy was born out of a simple but powerful conviction: that geography, income, or circumstance should never be a barrier to learning. While SRDL has long been working to develop literacy and life skills in township communities, we recognised that thousands of young people beyond our physical reach were also hungry for opportunity.
SK Online Academy became our answer — a free, accessible, online extension of that same mission, now reaching out-of-school youth across Africa. We pivoted from academic support to employment-centric pathways after discovering that learners prioritise income and opportunity over grades. Today, we are building a full ecosystem that takes learners from skills to credibility to income.
